La Trinidad welcomed the Christmas season today with a lantern parade and lighting of Christmas symbols at the Municipal Hall.
The lights parade was the initiative of Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) in collaboration with La Trinidad’s tourism office. According to Ms. Sherry Junette Tagle, OIC President of CCDC, the parade was one of the school’s lined up activities in celebration of its 25th founding anniversary. The participants marched from CCDC grounds passing through Poblacion and Km.6, ending at the Municipal grounds.
Tagle said that over 1000 students participated from the elementary, high school and college departments. They were instructed to create anything with lights with the theme “Looking back, but moving forward”, she added. There were no criteria given to the students because it was not a competition, said Tagle.
Each department came up with their own concept of lanterns; some were DIY made from recycled materials like plastic cups.
The parade was led by the drum and lyre group of CCDC’s elementary department. After the parade was a short program and the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony hosted by La Trinidad Tourism Officer Valred Olsim.
